Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to providing high-quality care and innovative solutions in cellular diagnostics. We are seeking an experienced Cellular Diagnostic Lead to join our team and drive excellence in patient care.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at Royal Preston Hospital, with a working week from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. You will not be required to provide on-call services for this post.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with other consultants and staff to develop specialist interests that complement our existing cancer services.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the Cellular Pathology Department, including administrative duties and staff supervision.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve patient outcomes and reduce waiting times.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless referrals and effective communication.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Full and specialist registration with the GMC, or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview (if UK-trained).
  • Evidence of academic excellence in Pathology.
  • An interest in quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Leadership and management skills, with experience in staff supervision.
  • Residency within 30 minutes' travel time to Preston.
  • A car owner/driver.

The salary for this position is estimated to be £105,504 - £139,882 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications.
