Job Description

As a Specialist Histopathology Consultant with Medacs, you will be working in partnership with our client, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Your primary responsibility will be to provide diagnostic consultations and advisory services to clinical colleagues in the network and primary care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop close collaborative links with clinicians working in your area of specialist expertise
  • Work to develop services provided to patients in these areas to the highest standards
  • Provide pathological support and leadership required for the delivery of excellent services
  • Be involved in the post-mortem service for the coroner
  • Participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities
  • Supervise trainee pathologists working in the department
  • Contribute to the development of digital pathology
  • Engage in research initiatives where possible

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A Full and Specialist Registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or eligibility for registration within six months of interview (for UK-trained applicants)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care
