Consultant Histopathologist

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Histopathologist to join our team at Royal Preston Hospital. As a key member of our pathology department, you will play a vital role in providing diagnostic consultations and advisory services to clinical colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide diagnostic consultations and advisory services to clinical colleagues in the network and primary care.
- Develop close collaborative links with clinicians working in your area of specialist expertise.
- Work to develop services provided to patients in these areas to the highest standards.
- Be encouraged to support reporting of any systemic cytology associated with your sub-specialty area(s) of interest.
- Interact with clinicians and allied health professionals to provide pathological support and leadership required for the delivery of excellent services.
- Participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
- Supervise trainee pathologists working in the department and assist in their training and appraisal.
- Participate in the appraisals, annual review scheme, mandatory training, and be responsible for ensuring that you comply with the requirements for revalidation by the General Medical Council and continue to hold a licence to practise.
- Be committed to, and involved in, clinical governance, risk management, and clinical audit, including audit of reporting discrepancies.
- Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
- Applicants that are UK trained must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
