Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Medical Secretary to join our Secretarial Team within the Head & Neck Department at York Hospital. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Medical Secretaries and their Consultant Teams, ensuring the smooth operation of the department.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for typing clinical and administrative letters, answering telephone enquiries, and dealing with patient queries. They will also be required to cover the Medical Secretaries during periods of absence and contribute to multi-disciplinary team meeting work.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have excellent administration and secretarial skills, including audio-typing experience and qualifications. They will also possess good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 6 months' secretarial/administrative experience, with a good understanding of customer relations and the ability to cope with distressing and emotional situations. They will also have proficient audio typing skills and the ability to accurately transcribe complex audio tapes and type complicated medical information.
