About the Role

The Myton Hospices is seeking a highly motivated and organized Project Volunteer Coordinator to support the development and implementation of a new community-based support service for individuals living with or caring for someone with a life-limiting illness in their own home.

As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Associate Director of Service Development and Improvement to design, develop, and implement the new service. Your primary responsibility will be to develop a team of community support volunteers and ensure their recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing support and management.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Associate Director of Service Development and Improvement in researching existing community-based services both locally and nationally.
  • Review patient feedback to determine the requirements of the new service and how it can best be delivered through volunteer roles.
  • Contribute to the planning of the 'pilot' phase to implement the new service.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures in relation to the community-based volunteering service.
  • Work directly with the Associate Director of Service Development and Improvement and Head of Volunteering to establish the tasks that could be undertaken by volunteers and develop role descriptions.
  • Liaise with marketing and the volunteering department to support with the planning and implementation of innovative and engaging volunteer recruitment campaigns.
  • Develop community links and partnerships to ensure that our opportunities have a wide reach.
  • Attend community and Myton events to recruit new volunteers.
  • Work closely with the Volunteering department to recruit, induct, and support new volunteers.
  • Plan induction and ongoing training to ensure that each volunteer has all the right skills and tools to provide the support needed in a community setting.
  • Support the Head of Volunteering and Clinical Education Team to develop mandatory training solutions for newly appointed community support volunteers.
  • Provide regular supervision opportunities for volunteers, through a range of face-to-face, telephone, and group supervision sessions.
  • Work with other volunteer coordinators to ensure that the volunteers are effectively managed and supported.
  • Gather feedback from volunteers on their Myton experience.
  • Respond to and help resolve volunteering concerns and safeguarding issues as determined by the hospice policies and procedures.
  • Work with the volunteering department to establish self-support and in-built leadership structures within the new volunteering teams created to expand the reach of Community services.
  • Support in the delivery of appropriate reward and recognition for volunteers.
  • Ensure that managers across the charity are aware of and utilizing the reward and recognition resources available.
  • Maintain up-to-date volunteer records on the charity's volunteer management system.
  • Provide reports on volunteer data and impact for the new community service.
  • Use evaluation data from project stakeholders to further develop the service.

General Responsibilities and Obligations of All Employees

The post holder is required to have a good understanding of and to comply with all relevant Myton policies, procedures, and guidelines. Any contravention of Myton policies or procedures may result in disciplinary action.

It is a requirement of employment with Myton that all staff must comply with the obligation of confidentiality relating to personal information that could identify individuals. The Data Protection Act 1974/1998 safeguards the handling of information held in both electronic and manual filing systems and it is the duty of all staff employed by Myton to uphold the principles of the Act, adhere to Myton policies, and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

All employees of Myton must be aware of infection prevention and control policies and are expected to follow them at all times. Any breach of infection control policies which places patients, visitors, or colleagues at risk may result in disciplinary action.

The post-holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities in line with Myton's Equality & Diversity Policy.

Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed upon them under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to ensure the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe working environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues. The post holder is required to conform with Myton's policies on Health & Safety and Fire Prevention, and to attend related training as required.

It is the duty of all staff working for Myton to safeguard children and vulnerable adults and undertake safeguarding training at an appropriate level.

Employees are required to represent Myton in a positive light and embody the corporate identity in appearance, demeanor, values, and ethics.
