Job Title: Special Education Support Worker
About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate Special Education Support Worker to join our team at Wayman Learning Trust. As a Special Education Support Worker, you will work closely with our SEN team to provide tailored support to children with autism, ensuring they receive the care and guidance they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support to children with autism, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop social skills.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
- Support the social and emotional development of students, ensuring they feel safe and supported within the school environment.
- Adapt classroom activities and materials to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers, SENCO, and parents.
- Support positive behaviour and help students manage sensory and communication challenges.
- Work collaboratively with external professionals, such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists, when needed.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience working with children with autism in an educational or care setting. You will possess knowledge of autism and associated behaviours, with an understanding of how to support children with sensory and communication needs. A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting children with SEN is essential, along with strong communication and teamwork skills.
We offer a competitive salary of £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional development and training in autism support and SEN strategies.
