We are seeking a Clinical Lead to join our Acute Hospital Liaison Service in Swindon. The successful candidate will be based within the Mental Health Unit at the Victoria Centre on the site of Great Western Hospital.

This is a newly created post, and we are recruiting a consultant colleague to work with the Mental Health Liaison Team (MHLT) attached to Great Western Hospital (GWH) in Swindon.

The post is envisaged to be part-time, 8 sessions per week. The team provides rapid, prioritised, and proportionate assessment of mental health needs for patients admitted to GWH. The service accepts referrals for patients aged 18 and over from both the wards and the Emergency Department.

The team receives about thirty referrals weekly, including about twenty general adult referrals and about ten referrals for older adult service users. The post holder is expected to attend a daily MDT meeting in the morning with team members, triage these referrals, and see patients as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Mental Health Liaison Team (MHLT) in providing rapid, prioritised, and proportionate assessment of mental health needs for patients admitted to GWH.
  • Attend a daily MDT meeting in the morning with team members to discuss referrals and patient care.
  • See patients as appropriate and provide high-quality clinical care.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement effective care plans for patients.

Requirements:

  • Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in acute mental health care.
