Role Summary

The Senior Clinical Educator will play a key role in advancing the delivery of clinical education programs, ensuring that nursing staff practice safely and effectively. This role will involve organizing practice development initiatives, overseeing quality assurance, and promoting inter-professional learning opportunities.

Main Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement clinical education programs that meet the needs of nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with departmental teams and clinical educators to design and deliver practice development initiatives.
  • Oversee the quality assurance of clinical education and practice development, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and national frameworks.
  • Promote inter-professional learning opportunities and uphold exemplary nursing practices as a professional role model.
  • Monitor and report on the impact and outcomes of education activity.
Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • First-level Registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK)
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor or equivalent
  • Level 6 Education-related study or equivalent
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education or equivalent
  • Clinical qualification or extensive clinical experience
  • Experience of working in clinical education or equivalent
  • Experience of teaching and assessing learners in a range of delivery methods (face-to-face, online, blended)
  • High standard of IT skills (Microsoft 365, TEL)
  • Able to manage the workplace and environmental factors of the role

  • Experience of leading education programs/practice development initiatives
  • Leadership and management qualification or equivalent
  • Finance/budgetary knowledge and use of related systems
  • Publication/presentation of research activity
  • Research awareness in relation to clinical education and practice development
  • Leadership and management experience and use of related systems
  • Experience of leading discussions/chair meetings
  • Experience of project management
  • Aware of and contributes to current developments in clinical education
