Overview of the Role
The Pharmacy division is experiencing significant growth, and we are excited to announce the opening of our Clinical Pharmacy Advancement Programme. This comprehensive 18-month competency-driven development initiative is designed to facilitate the transition from a post-registration foundation pharmacist (band 6) to an advanced clinical pharmacist (band 7) through structured milestones at 12 and 18 months.
We encourage applications from both trainee pharmacists and those currently working in other sectors who aspire to elevate their careers within a hospital environment. Additionally, we welcome seasoned band 6 or 7 pharmacists; their entry point into the programme will be tailored based on their prior experience. This exceptional programme aims to refine your skills across a variety of clinical specialties, and participants will receive support to pursue a postgraduate diploma at University College London alongside other designated objectives. Furthermore, we advocate for the attainment of a clinically enhanced pharmacist independent prescribing qualification as an extension of the programme to promote progression into more senior specialized roles.
We seek to recruit skilled pharmacists who are proactive, collaborative team members capable of managing the demanding responsibilities inherent in this vital NHS position.

The programme encompasses diverse clinical areas, including Elderly Care (such as stroke and orthogeriatric), Medicine (covering cardiology, endocrinology, and respiratory), Surgery (including trauma & orthopaedics, colorectal, and bariatric surgery), Acute Medicine and Frailty, Aseptic services (Haematology & Oncology), Dispensary services, Women and Children's health, High-Cost Drugs/Homecare, HIV, Education and Training, and Critical Care.

Detailed Responsibilities
Deliver expert patient care while supporting lead pharmacists, including the development, evaluation, and coordination of clinical pharmacy services aligned with divisional objectives and the UHSx Pharmacy strategy. Contribute to all facets of clinical governance, encompassing clinical risk management and audit processes. Engage in education and training as a teaching hospital, which includes supervising undergraduates, pre-registration pharmacists, and providing line management and educational oversight for band 6 pharmacists as appropriate.
