Job Overview

The Senior Educational Healthcare Support Worker is a key member of the education team, responsible for supporting the delivery of educational activities for Healthcare Support Workers. This role involves delivering enhanced fundamental training in both classroom and clinical environments.

Main Responsibilities
  • Train and support Healthcare Support Workers to assist patients with personal care, including hygiene and continence needs, while promoting independence.
  • Assist patients with nutritional needs, including eating, drinking, menu selection, meal delivery, and special diets tailored to individual needs.
  • Assist patients with mobilization, as appropriate.
  • Monitor patients' clinical observations, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, blood glucose, height, and weight, and report any abnormalities to the qualified nurse or Nurse in Charge.
  • Collect specimens and record results.
Supporting the Team

The Senior Educational Healthcare Support Worker will work closely with the qualified nurse to support patients undergoing clinical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety. This role also involves teaching and assisting in the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records, in accordance with current legal requirements.

Person Specification
  • Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a health and social care setting.
  • Care Certificate.
  • Maths GCSE (grade C or above) or Maths Level 2 functional skills.
  • English GCSE (grade C or above) or English Level 2 Functional skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical skills to new or junior members of staff.
