About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Old Age Liaison Service team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide leadership and senior medical input to the service, working closely with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant psychiatrist input to the Old Age Liaison Service, including acting as Responsible Clinician for patients over 65 detained under the Mental Health Act.
  • Offer specialist advice, consultation, and training to Primary Care, Secondary Mental Health Care, and Acute Teaching Hospitals.
  • Liaise with colleagues to provide patient-centred care, effective joint working, and risk management.
  • Participate in departmental and team governance, including audit, peer appraisal, CPD, appraisal, and job planning.
  • Provide supervision and training to junior medical staff and participate in undergraduate teaching.
  • Contribute to postgraduate teaching and supervision of junior doctors.
  • Participate in continuing professional development according to Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines.
