Senior Consultant Psychiatrist for Older Peoples Mental Health

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Integrated Care Team for Older People (HICTOP) in Hull. As a key member of our team, you will provide medical leadership and contribute to the development of our service. You will work closely with colleagues from various disciplines to ensure the provision of safe and effective care to our patients.
The post holder will have responsibility for the provision of care and treatment, and will be expected to engage in the development of the service through research and support. You will also be required to be approved as a Responsible Clinician or be willing to undertake training to obtain Section 12(2) MHA and renew this approval according to agreed procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent knowledge in Old Age Psychiatry, excellent clinical skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English. You will also need to be able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty, make decisions based on evidence and experience, and meet duties under MHA and MCA.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide medical leadership and contribute to the development of the service.
- Work closely with colleagues from various disciplines to ensure the provision of safe and effective care to patients.
- Be responsible for the provision of care and treatment.
- Engage in the development of the service through research and support.
- Be approved as a Responsible Clinician or be willing to undertake training to obtain Section 12(2) MHA and renew this approval according to agreed procedures.
Person Specification
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with the following qualifications and experience:
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment. Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment. Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment.
