About the Role:
We're seeking a seasoned leader to oversee our EMEA bureaus, with a focus on London as our largest hub. As General Manager EMEA and London Bureau Chief, you'll be responsible for inspiring and collaborating with teams across our EMEA locations and the broader CNN organization.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the Vice President, EMEA News, to stay ahead of the news cycle and enable our editorial teams to focus on priority stories.
- Serving as the escalation point for editorial news teams across EMEA.
- Fostering a "follow the sun" global newsgathering strategy, ensuring effective collaboration between regions and providing guidance to teams as needed.
- Integrating digital, newsgathering, and production teams to deliver high-quality, multi-platform content.
- Collaborating with the Vice President, EMEA News, and colleagues across CNN International to identify regional priorities and maintain strong relationships with government officials, local agencies, and the diplomatic world.
- Managing the external reputation of the CNN bureau, ensuring our high editorial standards are maintained.
- Overseeing the network's correspondents based in the region.
- Developing bureau strategy and driving cross-departmental initiatives in diversity, inclusion, and gender pay.
- Working with the Security Logistics team to set the strategic direction for protecting and supporting our workforce across EMEA.
- Ensuring the EMEA news hubs are fully functional and operational, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Overseeing the teams responsible for bureau logistics and technical operations, including security equipment and deployment.
- Providing expert leadership and management support to EMEA teams, ensuring ethics and operating practices are best in class.
- Creating an enabling work environment and a positive company culture where people feel supported, challenged, and part of a great team.
Onsite Working: This role requires onsite working, with all hours and days to be carried out at the place of work.
