About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious and talented individual to join our dedicated Industrial & Logistics sector team as an Associate Director - Rating Expert. This is an exciting opportunity to accelerate the expansion of our Rating business in the Midlands & South.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Expert Rating Advice
    • Support corporate real estate occupiers and investors within the sector on reducing their business rate liabilities, including managing appeals, relief applications, completion notice advice, and empty rates mitigation strategies.
  • Grow Your Client Base
    • Manage and grow your own client base and case load within the sector, developing excellent business relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Develop Business Strategies
    • Use robust quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess client situations and devise recommended strategies and solutions.
  • Present at Valuation Tribunal
    • Prepare and present at Valuation Tribunal.
  • Foster Collaborative Relationships
    • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships across the wider CBRE network and develop relationships with key CBRE service lines to promote the team and leverage opportunities.
  • Support Business Development
    • Support Directors to innovate processes to drive efficiencies into working processes, and to stay abreast of legislative and market developments.
  • Identify Cross-Selling Opportunities
    • Identify additional cross-selling revenue by exploring client needs – candidate may have individual revenue growth targets.
  • Develop Business Ideas
    • Understand the business development process and develop ideas and relationships that may result in new clients within Rating or another area of the business.
  • Contribute to Team Development
    • Contribute to the development of more junior members of the team through role modelling behaviour and feedback, providing support as required.
Requirements
  • Preferably MRICS Qualified
    • Preferably MRICS qualified with at least 5 years PQE Rating experience.
  • Proven Rating Experience
    • Proven experience in providing rating advice including negotiating appeals and advising on mitigation.
  • Detailed Knowledge of Rating Legislation
    • Detailed knowledge of rating legislation and case law.
  • Sector-Specific Experience
    • Sector specific experience ideal but not essential.
  • Valuation Tribunal Experience
    • Experience of taking cases to Valuation Tribunal and Upper Tribunal ideal but not essential.
  • Strong Surveying Skills
    • Strong general surveying and inspection skills.
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commercially Astute
    • Commercially astute with an entrepreneurial attitude to business development.
  • Problem-Solving Skills
    • Proactive with the ability to work autonomously and co-ordinate tasks efficiently to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Team Player
    • Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities.
  • Confident and Assertive
    • Confident and assertive where required.
  • Good IT Skills
    • Team player who works effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Familiarity with Rating Software
    • Good IT skills (Microsoft – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); familiarity with Rating software including RiverLake and Analyse is beneficial.
