Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Perinatal Mental Health Service as a Community Staff Nurse (Band 5). As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Community Staff Nurse will participate in the assessment of those referred into our service, which includes the possible impact of a woman's mental health on an unborn baby or infant, risk identification, and the implementation of evidence-based treatment and interventions working in partnership with patients, carers, and other health professionals in line with agreed standards and clinical policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in regular caseload supervision with a named Community Charge Nurse (Band 6)
  • Be involved in supervising the practice of and/or demonstrating practice and procedures to Student Nurses and other disciplines
  • Be an active participant in our Perinatal Advice Line, which acts upon referrals from other health professionals and offers a consultancy service to other health professionals on perinatal mental health issues

About the Service:

The Perinatal Mental Health Services provide a Community Psychiatric Nursing (CPN) service for patients residing within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS catchment area who are experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of illness during the perinatal period. Our service aims to provide a comprehensive and individualized package of care for the patient and infant within the patient's family and community environment while also providing psychiatric liaison to the health board's maternity units.

We promote training and development opportunities within the team to ensure our team is efficiently skilled and supported to work in this challenging clinical specialty.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
