International Student Services Coordinator

Job Summary:
The International Student Advisor plays a vital role in providing comprehensive support to international students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. As a key member of the International Student and Scholar team, this individual will be responsible for delivering exceptional student services, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and fostering a sense of community among international students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Data Management: Ensure accurate and timely updates of international student data in Workday, ISSM, and Terra Dotta systems.
- Immigration Advising: Provide expert guidance to international F-1 students on immigration-related matters, including travel signatures, I-20 forms, Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and OPT STEM extensions.
- Counseling and Support: Offer personalized advice and counseling to international students on cross-cultural, financial, and personal matters, while facilitating connections with other campus resources.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with various departments, including Undergraduate Admissions, Academic Advising, and Student Development and Counseling, to ensure seamless support for international students.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of international student issues, changing government regulations, and best practices in the field.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as necessary to support the International Student and Scholar team.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in international relations, international education, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of experience in international student services or a related field.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of immigration regulations, proficiency in departmental immigration software programs (e.g., SEVIS, ISSM, Terra Dotta), and fluency in Zoom/Teams.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree, knowledge of a foreign language, international experience, and demonstrated experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident to serve as a DSO in the SEVIS system.
