Make a Difference in the Lives of Young People with Learning Disabilities



We are seeking an experienced and passionate Tutor to join our Supported Internship programme in the Kingston area. As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping young people with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, and/or autism access the world of work.



About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a recognised teaching qualification at level 5 and experience of supporting people with learning disabilities. You will be responsible for delivering elements of teaching, learning, and assessment to learners, including accredited functional skills in both English and Mathematics.



Responsibilities


  • Deliver educational elements of Supported Internship programmes
  • Work closely with team members to provide holistic support in finding paid employment
  • Teach English and Maths by embedding them into lessons about employability
  • Teach further life skills that will have a direct impact on the way learners interact with their wider community
  • Facilitate and create lesson plans, with at least one full day of planning and admin time per week


Requirements


  • Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities
  • Recognised teaching qualification at level 5 (DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd)
  • A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering and assessing functional skills English and maths up to level 2
  • Experience & knowledge of safe working practices
  • Good classroom management skills and strategies
  • Good time management and planning skills
