Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Patient Safety Officer to join our team at Sturdee Community Hospital. As a Patient Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of care provided to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety policies to reduce accident-related costs and inefficiencies.
  • Monitor potential and actual environmental hazards and participate in root and apparent cause analysis.
  • Initiate and oversee the development of a comprehensive patient safety improvement program.
  • Coordinate the environment of care, safety, security, emergency preparedness, medical equipment, hazardous materials and waste management, life safety, and utilities.
  • Develop and implement education programs and materials to train staff to detect, mitigate, and avoid workplace hazards.
  • Maintain regulatory readiness documentation and ensure system compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in incident investigation to identify causal factors and determine how incidents might be prevented in the future.
  • Work collaboratively with department heads to ensure high-quality work is performed and cost-effective services are provided.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in an Acute Mental Health Hospital environment as a Support Worker or Patient Safety Officer.
  • Ability to work on shift/rota pattern.
  • Right to work in the UK.
