We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Directorate Clinical Quality Governance Teams as a Patient Safety Governance Lead. This exciting new role offers the opportunity to have a greater impact on patient safety and improve the way we respond to and learn from incidents.

As part of this role, you will oversee the Directorate patient safety incident response process, tracking learning responses from Initial Service Manager Review through Incident Review and Learning Meetings to completion. You will work across a range of clinical services, broadening your knowledge of the Directorate and building valuable networks.

The Directorate Clinical Quality Governance Teams will provide training, regular supervision and support to rapidly upskill successful candidates. This secondment / fixed term post offers the opportunity to develop sought after, transferable new skills and broaden your knowledge in readiness for future progression.

Main duties of the job

You will support and advise patient safety investigators through regular check-ins, to ensure that investigations and reports are comprehensive, adhere to LPT's Report Writing Standards and are completed on time. You will proof-read and be responsible for the standard and quality of investigation reports prior to review by senior Directorate Leads and Directors.

You will ensure early escalation of risks are identified through the investigation process to the Head of Nursing and ensure that areas for improvement and associated actions will effectively mitigate risks identified. You will liaise with the Legal Team regarding report readiness for the coroners and ensure learning through this process informs LPT's responses and improvement cycle.

You will be instrumental in supporting the Directorate to quality assure the evidence required to complete agreed actions and ensure grip and pace on the patient safety agenda.
