Mental Health Support Specialist

In the esteemed institution of Academics Ltd, we are seeking a dedicated professional to support children with moderate learning difficulties and additional mental health needs. This vital role involves collaborating with our experienced team to provide exceptional education and extra help for traumatised children and young people.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. As an integral member, you will assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students, with a focus on supporting those with challenging behaviour, ADHD or Autism, and developed mental health issues due to their needs. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering student learning experiences.
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
- Behaviour and pastoral support.
- Taking an active role in forward planning with therapists.
- Practical approaches to meet individual student needs.
- Willingness to work one-to-one and in small groups with students.
- Safeguarding students in line with procedures.
- Participating in staff meetings and completing relevant CPD.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be patient and understanding, and have an adaptable approach to any situation. A psychology degree is desirable but not necessary. Estimated salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience.
