About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Control and Contact Handler to join our team at Sussex Police. As a Control and Contact Handler, you will be the first point of contact for members of the public, handling emergency 999 calls, non-emergency 101 calls, online, and social media communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a high volume of emergency and non-emergency calls, providing excellent customer service and empathy to callers.
  • Work in a fast-paced 24/7 environment, thinking on your feet and making critical decisions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide a seamless service to the public.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Be aged 18 or over on the day of application.
  • Have lived in the UK for three continuous years immediately prior to application.
  • Not be a current or previous member of a proscribed terrorist organisation or group.
  • Not have served a prison sentence.
  • Have fast and accurate typing skills and be familiar with the phonetic alphabet.
