Principal Engineer for Product Safety

We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Safety and Environmental team at BAE Systems. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for leading technical/design reviews, providing technical direction to engineers, and supporting the development of individuals and teams to enhance their skills and competencies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering design and safety assurance, with experience in working on complex systems and combat sub-systems. They should also possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate.
ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading technical/design reviews to ensure that designs meet safety and environmental standards;
- Providing technical direction to engineers to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to complete their tasks;
- Supporting the development of individuals and teams to enhance their skills and competencies;
- Defining qualification obligations for the assurance hold points during build, test, and commissioning;
- Providing assurance to the Design Authority as to the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a CEng level or equivalent level of capability, with significant experience in applying knowledge to a wide range of engineering issues within own discipline and other engineering disciplines. You will also need to possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate.
What We OfferWe offer a competitive salary of £85,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance, and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan.
