Job Title: Principal Engineer - Strategic Weapons Organisation

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum

About the Role:

  • Support the development of the Task Authorisation Forms and ensure that GFE material is rectified.
  • Review US supplied documents for impact on the UK platform and distribute them to internal stakeholders for review and comment.
  • Engage with the Change Management community via the Enterprise Change Request (ECR) process to ensure a full impact assessment is conducted.
  • Provide engineering SQEP to assist with verification of US & UK requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of an enduring Trident Engineering capability.
  • Encourage and guide continuous improvement, challenging current practice where appropriate.

About You:

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • An engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Chartership or working towards.
  • Understanding of the role of an SSBN, its mission and how the Strategic Weapon System (SWS) contributes to it.
  • Understanding of the operation of the SWS and the platform equipment and services required to allow it to meet availability targets.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Knowledge of the US-supplied product, and how they impact on UK platform design.
  • Ability to contribute to the SWS Engineering/integration aspects of documentation reviews, design reviews and decision panels.
  • Basic understanding of Life Cycle Management.
