Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Trident Engineering team in Barrow-in-Furness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide engineering support to the Task Authorisation Forms and ensure that GFE material is rectified.
  • To review US supplied documents for impact on the UK platform and distribute them to internal stakeholders for review and comment.
  • To engage with the Change Management community via the Enterprise Change Request (ECR) process to ensure a full impact assessment is conducted.
  • To provide engineering SQEP to assist with verification of US & UK requirements.
  • To contribute to the development of an enduring Trident Engineering capability.
  • To encourage and guide continuous improvement, challenging current practice where appropriate.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Chartership or working towards.
  • Understanding of the role of an SSBN, its mission and how the Strategic Weapon System (SWS) contributes to it.
  • Understanding of the operation of the SWS and the platform equipment and services required to allow it to meet availability targets.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the US-supplied product, and how they impact on UK platform design.
  • Ability to contribute to the SWS Engineering/integration aspects of documentation reviews, design reviews and decision panels.
  • Basic understanding of Life Cycle Management.
