Principal Systems Engineer - Strategic Weapons Organisation

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our Trident Engineering team in Barrow-in-Furness. As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the integration of the Strategic Weapons System and Supporting Systems into the Dreadnought Class Submarine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support/input to Task Authorisation Forms and rectification of GFE material
  • Review US-supplied documents for impact on the UK platform and distribute them to internal stakeholders for review and comment
  • Engage with the Change Management community via the Enterprise Change Request (ECR) process to ensure a full impact assessment is conducted
  • Collaborate with the team and other stakeholders to provide Engineering SQEP and assist with verification of US & UK requirements
  • Assist in the development of an enduring Trident Engineering capability
  • Encourage and guide continuous improvement, challenging current practice where appropriate
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Chartership or working towards
  • Understanding of the role of an SSBN, its mission, and how the Strategic Weapon System (SWS) contributes to it
  • Understanding of the operation of the SWS and the platform equipment and services required to allow it to meet availability targets
