Job Title: Principal Commissioning Engineer

Location: Working in a highly regulated industry, you will be part of a team responsible for the commissioning of complex mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead test and commissioning activities, de-conflicting tasks, briefing teams, and overseeing work.
  • Deputise for relevant Commissioning Project Leader as and when required, including supervision of personnel on shift.
  • Responsible for safe plant operation, maintain awareness of plant state, and consequences of activities.
  • Responsible for self-development and attending any mandatory training requirements.
  • Carry out routine work with limited supervision and have an understanding of safety consequences in a high-risk environment.
  • Liaise/Interface with relevant stakeholders to ensure activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Instruct and mentor less experienced members of the team with your knowledge and competency.
  • Responsible for research, review, and feedback of appropriate documentation to the required standard.
  • To represent the Company on Contractors Sea Trials and other outworking requirements.
  • Responsible for delivering assigned activities in line with company policy, procedures, and legislation.
  • Keep full and accurate records of work activities carried out as required by policy, procedure, and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Experience of Commissioning or maintaining mechanical systems in a highly regulated industry (Oil, Gas, or Nuclear).
  • Experience of working to high levels of detail, recording, and reviewing results.
  • Knowledge of using test equipment and activities required for specific tests.
  • Understanding of the role and how the T&C contributes to the wider business and UK enterprise.
  • Knowledge of safety controls and procedures in a high-risk environment.
  • Experience working with high-pressure systems.
  • Ability to understand complex Mechanical Systems (Drawings, diagrams, and procedures).
  • Aware of Nuclear Site/Authorisation Conditions.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex engineering programmes, sharing your knowledge and mentoring less experienced engineers to achieve our goals. You will also be involved in key event testing for Dreadnought on the new design of the reactor plant.
