Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Scientist to lead our proton therapy physics team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong scientific background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other teams.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality proton therapy services, managing a team of physicists and radiographers, and contributing to the development of new treatment protocols. They will also be expected to participate in research projects, publish papers in peer-reviewed journals, and present at national and international conferences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the proton therapy physics team and manage its operations, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the trust's quality management system.
  • Develop and implement new treatment protocols and procedures, collaborating with clinical oncologists and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to research projects, supervising students and trainees, and publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present at national and international conferences, sharing expertise and advancing the field of proton therapy.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, teamwork, and innovation within the department.
Requirements
  • Honours degree in an appropriate physical science.
  • Postgraduate degree (e.g., Master's level and above).
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
  • Experience in radiotherapy physics, including proton treatment planning and dosimetry.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
