Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Proton Physics Expert to join our team at The Christie NHS FT.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing scientific support to the development of clinical protocols for pre-treatment and on-treatment imaging, as well as developing systems to increase the efficiency of the proton therapy service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scientific Support
    • Provide expert physics advice and specialist technical support for the review and development of clinical techniques.
    • Perform highly accurate routine and non-routine dosimetry and geometric quality control of the proton treatment delivery equipment.
  • Equipment Management
    • Manage equipment and resources within the department, providing scientific leadership in the areas of proton treatment planning, delivery, and imaging.
    • Operate, maintain, and develop quality assurance procedures for proton treatment planning, delivery, and imaging systems.
  • Research and Development
    • Initiate, lead, and carry out R&D projects, supervising other staff working on such projects.
    • Publish research in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals and communicate research through national and international conferences.
Requirements:
  • A strong background in radiotherapy physics and experience in proton beam therapy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in project management and supervision of staff, including trainee physicists and postgraduate students.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this role is £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including pension scheme, annual leave, and opportunities for professional development.
