Student Administration Officer

Role
The University of York is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join its Student Administration team as a Student Administration Officer. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering key areas of work and implementing associated policies. Your primary focus will be on supporting the Special Cases and Complaints team, which handles student appeals and other casework related to taught student progression and student complaints.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the handling of complaints and produce satisfactory outcomes as per the complaints process, complaints policies, and the Office of the Independent Adjudicator's Good Practice Framework.
- Advise colleagues in academic departments, investigate appeals and complaints, and make decisions on cases.
- Communicate outcomes to students and provide advice and support to colleagues and service users.
- Lead on specific tasks and deliver agreed outcomes as part of the Student Administration and Academic Affairs team.
Requirements
- Education to at least A Level standard or equivalent (or comparable work experience).
- Strong IT skills, with the ability to use Microsoft and Google Suite products.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide detailed advice and guidance on specialist defined processes and procedures.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize own work and follow procedures to produce work to a high standard, to required deadlines.
- Professional, diplomatic, and confident in dealing with a wide range of people and situations.
- Highly motivated, able to learn quickly, and work independently or as part of a team.
