Job Summary

The University of York is seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Administration Officer to join its Student Administration and Academic Affairs team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering key areas of work and implementing associated policies, including contributing to service improvement activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Special Cases and Complaints team in handling student appeals and other casework relating to taught student progression and student complaints.
  • Ensure compliance with the handling of complaints and produce satisfactory outcomes as per the Office of the Independent Adjudicator's Good Practice Framework.
  • Advise colleagues in academic departments, investigate appeals and complaints, and make decisions on cases.
  • Communicate outcomes to students and provide advice and support to colleagues and service users.

Requirements

  • Education to at least A Level standard or equivalent.
  • Strong IT skills, with the ability to use Microsoft and Google Suite products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide detailed advice and guidance on specialist defined processes and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize own work and follow procedures in order to produce work to a high standard, to required deadlines.
  • Professional, diplomatic, and confident in dealing with a wide range of people and situations.
