About the Role

Essex County Council is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Archive Assistant to join our team at the Essex Record Office (ERO). As a key member of our team, you will provide excellent customer service, advice, and guidance to visitors, while delivering administrative and technical tasks to support our services.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the operation of the ERO Searchroom, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Deliver the Duplicate Certificate Service, providing copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates, with attention to detail and strict time scales.

Engage with the public, provide specialist information, and advice on the safe handling of documents and the security of unique archival material.

Respond to enquiries on genealogical and historical research, utilizing ERO's electronic catalogue, Ancestry, and other genealogical and historical databases.
