About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Mental Health Practitioner to join our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in West Sussex.

As an Education Mental Health Practitioner, you will work closely with children and young people in education settings, delivering evidence-based interventions and supporting the development of whole-school approaches to emotional wellbeing and mental health.

You will be part of a dynamic team that is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in West Sussex.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver low-intensity, CBT-informed 1:1 therapeutic mental health assessments and interventions with children and young people, and/or their families.
  • Work flexibly with a range of professionals and other adults, including teachers, parents/carers, social workers, and other mental health professionals.
  • Build effective therapeutic rapport with children, young people, and their parents/carers.
  • Manage an allocated caseload and complete data recording and paperwork as required.
  • Assess risk and record and communicate it appropriately, taking necessary actions.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Education Mental Health or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children and young people in an education setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage an allocated caseload.
  • Ability to assess risk and take necessary actions.
