About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at West Sussex County Council. As a key member of our Mental Health Support Team, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based interventions in education settings for mild to moderate mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide low-intensity, CBT-informed 1:1 therapeutic mental health assessments and interventions with children and young people, and/or their families.
  • Conduct initial assessments, including thorough risk and safeguarding evaluations.
  • Work collaboratively with a range of professionals, including teachers, parents, social workers, and other mental health professionals.
  • Develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with children, young people, and their families.
  • Manage an allocated caseload, assessing, recording, and communicating risk appropriately.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties, as well as training in low or high-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. You must be able to travel independently to carry out assessments and have the ability to work flexibly with a range of professionals.
