About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at West Sussex County Council. As a key member of our Mental Health Support Team, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions in education settings, including primary and secondary schools and colleges, to support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, their families, schools, and other mental health professionals to develop and implement effective support plans.
  • Provide advice and guidance to schools and families on mental health and wellbeing, and liaise with external specialist services as needed.
  • Keep accurate records and maintain data on casework, including assessments and interventions.
  • Attend and participate in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
  • Training in low or high-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective therapeutic relationships with children, young people, and their families.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding protocols and procedures, with the ability to work in line with Local Safeguarding Board guidance.
