The Opportunity

Salary: NJC Grade 9 £33,945 to £36,648 per annum

Contract Type: Fixed Term/Secondment until TBC. You will need to be able to start with us in January due to the course starting.

Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, full time, Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00

Location: County Hall Chichester, County Hall North Horsham, or Crawley Library (plus Crawley Weighting Allowance of £561 per annum)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and embedding of services in educational settings.
  • Work closely with other members of the team, including Educational Psychologists, to provide training to schools.
  • Advocate for children and young people with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities.
  • Deliver CBT-informed, evidence-based early interventions for mental health problems, especially for those with SEND.
  • Manage time effectively and communicate with members of the public.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Thought-Full Mental Health Support Team in schools as a Trainee Mental Health Practitioner for SEND. You will be part of an integrated mental health team, working creatively, flexibly, and adaptably to support children and young people in educational settings.

Training and Qualification:

You will attend UCL and work towards a UCL Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Practitioner. You will be trained in how to adapt interventions, but you will need a good level of experience in offering CBT-informed assessments and interventions.

Requirements:

  • A minimum second-class bachelor's degree (or equivalent in a relevant subject)
  • Relevant professional experience

  • Delivering evidence-based interventions in schools for mild to moderate mental health issues.
  • Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.
