Job Summary:

DBHDS is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join our team as the Head of a Multidisciplinary Treatment Team. This position is responsible for overall clinical leadership, providing quality psychiatric care to our inpatient population, and developing effective treatment plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and evaluation of psychiatric illnesses
  • Development and implementation of treatment plans
  • Psychiatric medication evaluation and management
  • Ordering diagnostic tests, medications, and therapies
  • Collaboration with consultants and experts
  • Timely completion of medical record documentation
  • Continuation of care and discharge planning

Requirements:

  • MD degree or equivalent
  • Graduate of an approved psychiatry residency program
  • Licence to practice medicine and surgery in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Federal licence to prescribe medications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Clinical experience in forensic psychiatry
  • Veterans and people with National Service experience
