Job Overview

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of General Manager - Acute Floor. This dynamic position will play a pivotal role in leading and overseeing Acute Floor services, including the £48m refurbishment at Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of two Emergency Departments and two Acute Medicine services within the Acute Floor. They must effectively engage and collaborate with other Trust General Managers to manage unscheduled demand across both hospitals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement Divisional and Trust service strategies and objectives, with a particular focus on delivering performance standards, service improvements, and efficiencies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of patient care and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Lead and manage a team of staff to deliver high-quality patient services in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and patient care.

  • Masters degree level qualification in Management or Health related subject or equivalent knowledge.
