Doncaster Council:
We are passionate about Doncaster - a great place to live, do business and visit.
With many major developments in the pipeline, a vibrant urban centre with a thriving arts and cultural scene, sport and leisure attractions, wonderful green spaces and a fascinating heritage, Doncaster is the UK's best connected location.
We have plenty to shout about – it's the place to be with a bright future and ambitions ahead of it.
We believe that our Residential Services for Children with Disabilities are expanding rapidly, and we're seeking skilled professionals like you to join our team as a Waking Nights Officer.
As a Waking Nights Officer, you'll work under the supervision and advice of the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and senior residential care officers, providing a warm, caring and enabling environment designed to meet the emotional, social and physical needs of children and young people living with disabilities and complex care needs.
You'll be responsible for general housekeeping tasks such as washing and ironing clothes, cleaning the home, completing paperwork for children's files and other clerical duties.
Good communication skills and basic IT skills are essential for this role, which involves working independently with support from a sleeping-in member of staff and completing tasks set out on your shift plan.
One of the key responsibilities of this position is to discreetly oversee the young people at regular intervals during the night or as directed by the Manager or senior officers.
Ensuring the home is safe and secure and being able to report and liaise with other agencies such as the Police and social care if a young person is missing from care are also crucial aspects of this role.
The successful candidate must be prepared to provide cover for other night care officers when on annual leave, training or sick leave.
The Registered Manager may also offer additional shifts within the day to promote individual training and integrated working across the home.
We require all candidates to be willing to undertake any training required for this role and complete QCF level 3 within two years of enrolment, as this is a mandatory requirement of children's homes regulations.
Candidates will also need to be competent to attend training and implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Signs of Safety model.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive.
You'll also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and access to a range of staff discount and flexible benefits schemes.
Estimated Salary: £25,969 - £28,665 per annum (dependent on experience)
