Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Therapist to provide evidence-based mental health treatment services to youth in a correctional setting. As a key member of our treatment team, you will work closely with residents, families, and staff to promote positive outcomes and reduce recidivism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapies to residents
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to address mental health needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to establish a therapeutic milieu
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to reduce recidivism
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of evidence-based treatment services and psychotherapy
  • Experience working with adolescents in a correctional or residential setting
  • Skilled in working within a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Licensure in a given discipline (e.g. LCSW, LPC)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with sex offender treatment and risk assessment
  • Certification as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP) or Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC)
