Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is dedicated to enhancing public safety through impactful interventions aimed at improving the lives of youth and fortifying families and communities. We are currently in search of a skilled and motivated Therapist to:

  • Deliver evidence-based mental health, substance use, sex offender, and aggression management treatment services to residents, fostering their well-being and rehabilitation while minimizing the risk of recidivism.
  • Provide direct clinical services to youth, including individual, group, and family psychotherapies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and sustain a therapeutic environment for residents.
  • Engage primarily in-person with committed residents aged 14 to 20 years.

Limited telework options may also be available.

Shift Details

This recruitment is for multiple hires. The mid-day shift may begin as early as 11 AM and extend until 7 PM, with alternating weekends. Specific incentives may be available for these positions.

Training Requirements

Selected candidates must commit to an initial basic skills training program, which consists of a three-week academy focused on classroom instruction, skill-based classes, practical applications, and scenario-based sessions.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess considerable knowledge in providing evidence-based treatment services/psychotherapy to adolescents, experience in individual, family, and/or group therapy, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the capacity to work independently are essential. For specific treatment areas, knowledge of sex offender treatment and risk assessment or substance use treatment is required.

Additional Considerations

Experience in a correctional center, residential setting, or group home is preferred. Licensure in a relevant discipline such as LCSW or LPC is advantageous. Certifications in sex offender treatment or substance use treatment are also beneficial.
