Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Support Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will provide personalized support to students with autism spectrum conditions, ensuring they have access to the resources and assistance they need to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to students with autism, assisting them with academic tasks, social interactions, and emotional regulation.
- Facilitate learning as directed by the teacher and in line with pupils' Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP).
- Support behavioral strategies tailored to the specific needs of each student.
- Support students during classroom activities, helping them to stay engaged, focused, and on task.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and valued.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop and implement effective support strategies that promote student progress and independence.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders and adjusting support strategies as needed.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with individuals with autism or other special educational needs is highly desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of students with autism.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the evolving needs of students and the school community.
