Disability Support Assistant

GSL Education is currently seeking a skilled Disability Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school community in Lymington.
This exciting opportunity involves providing tailored support to students with disabilities, helping them engage with the curriculum, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential.
As a Disability Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that meets the individual needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with disabilities, assisting with their academic, social, and personal development.
- Implement personalised strategies and interventions to support the unique needs of each student, fostering independence and confidence.
- Assist teachers in developing and maintaining Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning programmes.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and relevant professionals.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the well-being and engagement of all students.
- Collaborate with the wider school team to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to supporting students with disabilities.
- Promote awareness and understanding of disabilities within the school community, contributing to a supportive and inclusive ethos.
Requirements:
- Have prior experience working with children or young people with disabilities, ideally within an educational setting.
- A strong understanding of disability support strategies and effective techniques to promote inclusion and accessibility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to providing high-quality support to students with diverse needs.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.
- An updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
