Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in an outstanding primary school in Northumberland.

About the Role:

  • Provide individualised support to students with SEMH needs in their academic and personal development.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Implement individualised support plans and strategies.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting positive interactions.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in Social, Emotional and Mental Health support (desirable but not essential).
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
