Role Overview
">The Graduate Teaching Assistant SEN role at GSL Education involves providing support to students with special educational needs in a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. This position requires a recent graduate with a degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field, and previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student with special educational needs.
- Offer individual and small group interventions to help students improve their learning outcomes.
- Use evidence-based strategies to support students in developing their academic and social skills.
- Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
- Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain detailed records of student's progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student's development.
- Ensure that students receive comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A recent graduate with a degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable.
- A genuine enthusiasm for education and a commitment to supporting the development and well-being of students with SEN.
- Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
