Position Overview

We are seeking a Band 6 Advanced Intensive Care Practitioner to become a vital part of our dedicated team. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic and driven individual eager to embrace new challenges within a dynamic service environment. Whether you are transitioning from inpatient care to community services or are a Band 5 professional ready to advance into a senior position, we welcome your interest. Our team offers a robust developmental support framework for those moving into a Band 6 role from Band 5, as well as opportunities for skill enhancement for those with inpatient experience.

The North Wiltshire Intensive Service provides an exceptional work environment that fosters the development of both clinical and leadership competencies, which may not be available in other positions due to the rapid pace and high acuity of our service. We have successfully nurtured numerous clinicians through tailored training options, both clinically and in leadership roles. Many of these professionals have progressed to higher positions within the locality, creating further opportunities within our team. The Band 6 practitioner will be required to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, with the assurance that night shifts are not part of the role. We are open to requests for specific shifts and support flexible working arrangements. Both full-time and part-time applications will be considered, with flexible working agreements available.

Main Responsibilities

The Band 6 practitioner will take on a leadership role within the team, which may include:

  • Assessing referrals to the service and providing recommendations.
  • Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments in the community.
  • Performing gatekeeping assessments to facilitate admissions when home treatment is not deemed viable or safe.
  • Participating in Mental Health Act assessments and developing home treatment plans when appropriate.
  • Implementing Risk Management and Care Plans to ensure effective home treatment for service users, employing the least restrictive practices whenever possible.
  • Assisting with medication management and adherence within the community.
  • Offering telephone support to service users during crisis situations.
  • Providing supervision to Band 4 colleagues.

A thorough induction process will be provided, along with a supported transition period.
