Immunology Laboratory Specialist

Position Overview
We are excited to present a remarkable opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to become a vital member of our Immunology team.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in routine Immunology practices and must be a highly driven HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist. A minimum of 12 months of laboratory experience within the UK is essential, which may include a training role. Candidates lacking this experience are kindly requested not to apply.
This role encompasses the execution of various technical assays, ensuring timely results for patient care. We seek an individual who is an effective communicator, well-organized, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable of thriving in a collaborative environment.
Our Immunology department offers a unique chance to engage with a comprehensive range of Immunology assays, utilizing advanced equipment such as Navios and Aquios flow cytometers, DS2 ELISA processors, Bioflash chemiluminescent instruments, Unicap 250s, Quantalyser 3000 IIF processor, and Euroblotone blot processor.
The department holds UKAS (ISO15189:22) accreditation for a wide array of Immunology tests, and we actively encourage and support Continuing Professional Development (CPD). There is also an opportunity to pursue the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Immunology, as our department is accredited for specialist training.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the departmental team, contributing to the delivery of a quality-driven, cost-effective, and patient-centered service aligned with the objectives of Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting laboratory analyses related to the position, including reporting results and maintaining accurate records.
- Participating in departmental rosters as required.
- Implementing quality control procedures and addressing any identified performance issues.
- Assisting in the operation and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Managing personal work activities efficiently to ensure an adequate supply of laboratory consumables and reagents.
- Utilizing computerized data management systems competently and efficiently.
- Supporting the training and development of staff in line with the departmental training plan.
- Maintaining an ongoing Professional Portfolio and updating the Professional Development Plan.
- Contributing to the development of new methodologies and the integration of innovative technologies.
- Ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and procedures to meet National External Quality Assurance and Accreditation standards.
- Assisting in the creation and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Adhering to safe working practices as per departmental Safety Policy.
- Complying with Trust policies, including those related to discipline, grievance, and health and safety.
- Ensuring adherence to statutory and legislative requirements, including patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Participating in personal development reviews.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- A minimum of 12 months of laboratory experience in the UK.
- Conscientious and meticulous with a proven ability to organize work effectively.
- State registration with HCPC.
Desirable:
- Experience with Immunology laboratory techniques.
Communication Skills:
Strong written communication skills with relevant examples of practice.
Planning and Organizational Skills:
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage time effectively.
Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of quality control, UKAS standards, and Immunology practices.
