Position Overview

We are excited to present a rewarding opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to become a vital member of our Immunology division.

The ideal candidate will possess routine Immunology experience and knowledge, and must be a highly driven HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist. A minimum of 12 months of laboratory experience within the UK is essential, which may include a training role. Applications from individuals lacking this experience will not be considered.

This role encompasses the execution of various technical assays to provide timely results for patient care. We seek a candidate who is an effective communicator, well-organized, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable of working collaboratively within a team.

Our Immunology department offers a unique chance to engage with a comprehensive range of Immunology assays utilizing advanced equipment. This includes Navios and Aquios flow cytometers, DS2 ELISA processors, Bioflash chemiluminescent instruments, Unicap 250s, Quantalyser 3000 IIF processor, and Euroblotone blot processor.

The department holds UKAS (ISO15189:22) accreditation for a wide array of Immunology tests, and we actively encourage and support Continuous Professional Development (CPD). There is also an opportunity to pursue the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Immunology, as our department is accredited for specialist training.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of the departmental team, contributing to the delivery of a quality-driven, cost-effective, patient-centered service aligned with the objectives of Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.

The primary responsibilities include conducting examinations of pathological samples using various technologies and reporting or presenting results as necessary.

Core Duties

  • Execute all laboratory analyses related to the position, including result reporting and maintaining accurate records.
  • Participate in departmental rosters as required.
  • Implement quality control procedures and analyze results to identify and rectify performance issues.
  • Engage in the operation and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Manage personal work activities efficiently to ensure a sufficient supply of laboratory consumables and reagents.
  • Utilize computerized data management systems competently and efficiently.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of staff, contributing to the departmental training plan.
  • Maintain an ongoing Professional Portfolio and update the Professional Development Plan, undertaking activities to meet HPC CPD requirements.
  • Support the development of new methodologies and the integration of new technologies.
  • Uphold laboratory policies and procedures to ensure compliance with National External Quality Assurance and Accreditation standards.
  • Aid in the creation, maintenance, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Follow safe working practices in accordance with departmental Safety Policy.
  • Adhere to Trust policies regarding discipline, grievance, sickness, absence, and health and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements, including patient confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
  • Work flexibly and undertake additional duties as required.
  • Engage in and contribute to personal development reviews.

Qualifications and Skills
