About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our world-leading research group at the intersection of molecular biology and insect vector control. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Professor Andrea Crisanti and his team at Imperial College South Kensington Campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative and autonomous research in the planning and execution of cutting-edge molecular biology and genetics projects.
  • Collaborate with other scientists within Imperial College and internationally to develop and improve vector control strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of gene drive systems and population suppression strategies to reduce the population of Anopheles mosquitoes.
  • Attend relevant workshops and conferences to stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field.
  • Compile reports for submission to research sponsors and provide guidance to other staff and students.
Requirements
  • Hold or be near completion of a PhD in molecular biology or a closely related discipline.
  • Practical experience in molecular cloning, mosquito husbandry, analysis, and interpretation of DNA and RNA sequencing data.
  • Experience with molecular approaches to population control of mosquito disease vectors and demonstrable knowledge in molecular biology and genetics, statistical procedures, and CRISPR-Cas9 systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and apply new concepts and have a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Passion and drive to tackle and overcome scientific challenges.
