We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Genetic Counsellor to join our dynamic team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Principal Genetic Counsellor, you will play a key role in providing expert genetic counselling services to individuals and families affected by genetic disorders.
Main Responsibilities- Oversee a specialist area of the genetic counselling team, with a focus on rare disease and prenatal work
- Provide cross-cover for cancer services as needed, taking into account service needs and candidate experience
- Manage a mixed caseload, including triage, case review, and line management for the team
- Support our training programme for STP trainees and MSc students
- Contribute to teaching, research, and development opportunities within the team
- Registered with the Genetic Counsellor Registration Board (GCRAB) or equivalent
- Valid Sign-off Mentor/Assessor training
- Experience as a Band 8a Principal Genetic Counsellor
- Advanced counselling skills and previous telephone counselling experience
- Ability to identify and lead on service developments within the genetic counselling service
- Mphil/PhD/equivalent
- Post-graduate teaching qualification
- Significant experience at Band 8 in specialist area of genetic counselling
- Previous experience of line management of genetic counsellors
- Experience of independent and collaborative research
