Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Genetic Counsellor to join our dynamic team at the South West Thames Centre for Genomics. As a Genetic Counsellor, you will play a crucial role in providing expert genetic counselling to individuals and families affected by genetic disorders.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing genetic counselling to patients and families, including risk assessment, genetic testing, and interpretation of results
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement genetic services
  • Participating in research and audit activities to improve genetic services and patient outcomes
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of genetic disorders, testing, and treatment options
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in Genetic Counselling or a related field
  • Registration with the Genetic Counsellor Registration Board (GCRB) or equivalent
  • Experience in genetic counselling, preferably in a clinical setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
